The Royal Kennel Club International Agility Festival

Hey there, fellow adventurers! It's your favourite vegan online coach, Gary, and today I'm diving headfirst into a world of furry fun, boundless enthusiasm, and heart-pounding agility.

Last weekend, my partner-in-crime Rob and our fur baby, Helios, the spirited Sprocker Spaniel (a Cocker Spaniel x English Springer Spaniel mix), embarked on a whirlwind journey to The Royal Kennel Club International Agility Festival.

A Festival of Paws and Play

Picture this: a grand stage where dogs and their human companions from all corners of the globe gather for the ultimate agility showdown. The Royal Kennel Club International Agility Festival is not just an event; it's a celebration of the incredible bond between humans and their four-legged buddies.

Helios, our adorable pup, started his journey with Puppy Obedience Training, and from there, he leaped into the world of Agility Training. And let me tell you, folks, he's an absolute natural!

Watching him zip through tunnels, bound over jumps, and conquer obstacles with sheer joy is a sight to behold. It's like watching pure happiness in motion. And you know what? It's not just good for him; it's a workout for me too!

My Personal Connection to Canine Agility

Now, let me rewind the tape a bit. My journey with dog agility goes way back. In fact, I hold the title of a Kennel Club Accredited Agility Instructor. Beyond that, I once led a National Lottery Funded Project, inspiring people to get active with their dogs. And if that's not enough, I proudly serve as the President of a dog charity.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. The vegan world and the realm of dog ownership and activities often intersect with different viewpoints. But let me throw this out there—watching Helios zip around with unbridled joy is like witnessing a ball of energy truly living its best life.

Fueling Vegan Paws for Success

Here's the scoop: being a responsible dog owner means ensuring your furry companion lives a life full of happiness, health, and zest. For Helios, agility training isn't just exercise—it's a passion. It's a chance for him to shine and thrive. And guess what? He's a vegan dog, living proof that our plant-based pals can be just as vibrant and energetic as any other.

Agility and Activism: A Perfect Combo?

In the grand tapestry of the vegan movement, activism takes many forms. From direct action to education and policy change, every step matters. That's why Helios and I are charging ahead on our agility journey, combining the joy of agility with representing the vibrant vegan community and advocating for our furry friends. Proving that dogs can thrive on a vegan diet!

But here's the twist: my connection with The Royal Kennel Club and the larger dog world has had me pondering. As a vegan with strong values, I've questioned alignment. However, here's my stance—I'm not just waving the flag for agility; I'm waving it for veganism too. My role as President of a dog charity positions me to champion responsible ownership and breeding from within, all while staying true to my vegan ethos. With all organisations I will continue to ballot for change to ensure responsible dog ownership, the promotion of rescue dogs and rescue organisations and the end to irresponsible dog breeding practices. I intend to use my seat at the table, to be a positive voice for the vegan movement, from within.

Join the Fun: A Pawsitive Conclusion

So, whether you're cheering from the sidelines or jumping through hoops alongside your pup, remember this: it's all about the joy, the connection, and the unbreakable bond between humans and their furry counterparts.

Our journey is just beginning, and the agility course is a thrilling path to navigate.

Wishing you all tails of triumph and leaps of love!

Best Wishes
